Blockchain-Powered Video Streaming Now Easier Than Ever

SANTA MONICA, CA – July 25, 2019 – Vevue, the company that released the first film on blockchain, launched a new beta version of their blockchain video streaming app service today for both iO/S and Android.
Built on the Qtum blockchain – an open-source public blockchain platform – Vevue Beta has a new look and feel that makes it easier to earn tokens (not buy them) for uploading, watching and responding to video content.
This beta launch builds upon Vevue’s ongoing mission to empower creators by allowing them to immediately monetize their content, benefit from copyright protection, and incentivize audience engagement.
Essentially, Vevue provides a solution to the myriad issues related to copyright, privacy, and misguided algorithms that have kept consumers from fully embracing traditional social media platforms.
With Vevue’s beta release out now in the United States and South Korea, viewers can earn tokens using the redesigned interface by engaging with creators via comments. This feature is supplemented by a new option allowing users to upvote or downvote content, which earns creators one token for each vote.
Pre-existing features for earning tokens have also been upgraded. “Map Running,” now known as “Lists,” rewards video reviews of real-world restaurants, bars, and local attractions.
To encourage collaboration among other creators, a new “Splitter” option allows creators to set split rates that will automatically share profits among collaborators every time someone pays to watch co-created content.
Personalization features have also been added. A new customizable Vevue handle makes it easier for others to discover and follow a creator’s unique account. In addition, creators may upload videos privately, as well as enable or disable commenting.
The release of Vevue Beta comes at a time when the public is witnessing attempts by social media companies to integrate blockchain technology into their platforms. Questions remain, however, as to whether these platforms will operate on a permissionless blockchain.
Vevue is revolutionary because it operates on a decentralized/peer-to-peer video network that makes it easy for anyone to earn tokens through content creation and engagement – all while guaranteeing complete intellectual property (IP) rights to the video creator.
